Skylink looks to the future

Published: 10.46 Europe/London, April 26, 2011

The Czech/Slovak DTH platform Skylink plans to add a dozen more HD channels to its offer, according to Jaromir Glisnik, the CEO of its joint owner TradeTec.

Speaking to Digizone, he said that by doing so the number of its paying customers currently receiving HD channels – a figure that he put at 10% – is likely to grow significantly.
Glisnik spoke at some length about the cooperation between Skylink and the Bulgarian DTH platform Satellite BG, which after ensuring technical compatibility earlier this year is now developing on a barter basis through the exchange of SD and HD channels.

He also confirmed that Towercom, TradeTec’s partner in Skylink, plans to build uplinks facilities on the Barrandov hill in Prague.

Furthermore, while refusing to confirm that Skylink has 250,000 paying customers,
he said it was the number two platform in terms of the number of such customers.
