Mixed fortunes for Polish TP

The Polish incumbent telco Telekomunikacja Polska (TP) ended the first quarter with 577,000 subscribers to its TV services.

This was 33,000 more than three months earlier and 160,000 more than in the same period last year.

Although the total number of DTH subscribers stood at 464,000 (up from 428,000 three months earlier), its IPTV subscriber total fell by 2,000 in the first quarter to 113,000.

Indeed, TP’s IPTV service seems to have flat-lined, the Q1 2010 subscriber total having already been 111,000.

Of TP’s TV subscriber base in Q1 2011, 153,000 opted for pay-TV packages. Its VoIP and Livebox client bases meanwhile stood at 137,000 and 785,000 respectively.

ARPU for broadband and TV amounted to PLN54.6 (€13.7) a reduction on the previous quarter’s PLN55.8.

TP’s revenues in Q1 amounted to PLN3,729 million, a 3.7% reduction on the same period in 2010, with those in the fixed line segment being 78% lower at PLN2,131 million. EBITDA was, at PLN1,345 million, 5.3% down year-on-year.
